Andrés Reisinger: Job InterviewLast Resort27.08.19 – 28.09.19Extended until October 12thOpening August 27th
Dear Peter,
I would like to introduce my new show with an image of a space I have specially created. It exemplifies what Bergson calls the “unforeseeable nothing which is everything in a work of art,” an unforeseeable nothing that takes time. This reminds me of a 1991 lecture by John Cleese on creativity, where two of the five required factors are time.
In this time of extreme overstimulation, I have titled this exhibition “Job Interview”. The term, typically associated with productivity and efficiency, is reinterpreted here as a sculpture that evokes the discomfort of a job interview. Under familiar pressures, we often maintain tunnel vision when we should step back and contemplate the broader view.
This exhibition is a compilation of all the work I have developed over the last three months. By accepting the vulnerability in revealing my process, I erase any friction between myself and the work. This is how the title “Job Interview” came to be—a reflection of creating under specific conditions.
Love,
Andrés
